Paul Haig to Release A Singles Compilation plus Previously Unreleased Material

'At Twilight' is a new 2CD compilation of singles and album tracks recorded by Paul Haig for Les Disques du Crépuscule which were variously produced by Alan Rankine, Cabaret Voltaire, Bernard Sumner, Mantronik, Lil Louis, Alex Sadkin and Man Parrish.
The second CD includes all nine tracks from the lost Alan Rankine-produced second studio album from 1984 which has never before been released in its complete form. Plus it also includes 'The Executioner', the unreleased collaboration between Cabaret Voltaire and Paul Haig which was originally planned for release on Factory Benelux (FBN 47/48).
It all comes packaged with a cover portrait by Charles Van Hoorick and the liner booklet includes archive images and track-by-track commentary by Paul Haig.
The compilation will be out via Crépuscule on 20 January 2014. And don't forget that the brand new studio album by Paul Haig is out now.

Billy Mackenzie and The Associates Mixtape

Billy Mackenzie was a Scottish singer who teamed up with Alan Rankine in the late 70's to form The Associates. As The Associates they had several hits and released three excellent albums. Alan Rankine left The Associates around 1985 and Billy Mackenzie continued to release under the name The Associates. On 22 January 1997, depression and the death of his mother are believed to have contributed to Mackenzie's suicide. He was 39 years old. He will mostly be remembered for his unique voice which shifted effortlessly from bass blues to falsetto diva posturing. His life was the subject of a biography by Tom Doyle 'The Glamour Chase' released in 1998. This is a very special mixtape starting Billy Mackenzie, his friends and the associates.

Paul Haig-Electronik Audience

Music has previously always struggled to keep pace with Paul Haig. His 80's angular Edinburgh post-punk outfit Josef K were way ahead of their time, influencing numerous contemporary bands (most notably Franz Ferdinand). His last few solo releases too - the Cinematique albums - were eminently futuristic.
On Electronik Audience it’s Haig that seems to be playing catch up though. Resembling a bunch of dodgy early 90's house anthems - all flimsy processed beats and ambient synths - much of this record simply sounds dated. Only "Reason" and "Thieves" show real flashes of inspiration, their sneering vocals suggesting - frustratingly, if nothing else - that the trailblazing old punk is actually still in him, somewhere. ~Malcolm Jack

Instant Hit: Paul Haig- Something Good

"Something Good" was released as the single in 1989 and it was the lead track from the album Chain released during the same year. Paul Haig financed the recordings himself hoping for a release by Les Disques Du Crepuscule but when Crepuscule dissolved, it was released on Virgin subsidiary Circa. The single was co-produced by Alan Rankine from The Associates and the sleeve included the small Angus McBean portrait of Audrey Hepburn. Even today this remains as one of the most remarkable and memorable Paul Haig songs.
